Muntyanov/Mutyan
A researcher in the Ukraine found the birth record of Sophia Mikhailovna Muntyan(ov), who was born Nov 28 1886. Her parents were Mikhail Grigorovich Muntyanov and Olga Avksentijivna. When I look online, neither the name Muntyan nor Muntyanov comes up in search results anywhere, when I restrict to exact spelling. Why is that, when that is a Russian/Ukrainian surname?
I'm looking for her marriage, which would have been between 1905 and very early 1909, since her first child was born in Aug 1909 in Vapniarka Vinnytsia Ukraine.

Hello,
look online where? There are 136 thousand google results for "Muntyan" and 1.9 million for "Мунтян"
The last name isn't really Russian/Ukrainian, it seems to come from Bessarabia which was Russian Empire back then and is now Moldova/Romania.
Also when searching for older spellings/sources and limiting for exact spelling you may want to use the pre-1917 spelling which would be "мунтянъ" and "мунтяновъ"

I'm looking for a birth record and marriage for Mikhail Grigorovich Muntyan/Muntyanov and his wife Olga Avksentijivna. Their daughter Sophia Mikhailovna was born Nov 28 1886 in Tulchyn, Vinnytsia, Ukraine. I would also like to know about any other children for the couple.
According to Familysearch's record section Muntyanov doesn't exist. Muntyan isn't found in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, or Romania. It's found in Hungary, Yugoslavia, and the US.
Thanks for the hint on the locations and older spellings.

Hello,
FS record section would only show you what is indexed and as far as I am aware most of the Ukrainian records are not. Also a vast majority of the church books were destroyed in various wars and fires. In the area I am most interested in for example church records are available for 1770, 1781-1783, 1785, 1841, 1897 and 5-10 years later. You'd have to know specific locations/years and manually look through available metric books in Russian.

Hi,
Unfortunately, I can't read Russian or Ukrainian. I can only read English fluently. I know the Russian Orthodox church in Zhmerynka was destroyed by fire in 1923. Adia was born there in 1911.
