Nobles' Marriage
Hi There. Does anyone have any insight into where marriages for Comune nobles would have taken place? I have searched the birth location for both the bride and groom and nothing. Now I am wondering whether they traveled to Rome for their nuptials.
I have successfully found the birth location of their children, but NO marriage record.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

As a general rule, marriages were virtually always done in the place of residence of the bride, even for wealthy or noble families.
Keep in mind that the bride's place of residence is not necessarily her place of birth, and wealthy households often moved around quite a bit, so this may be why the marriage is not found in her birth comune.
My advice would be to search for the marriage pubblicazione record instead. Although the actual marriage (matrimonio) will only ever be recorded in the comune where it was actually celebrated, the publications (pubblicazione) will be recorded in both the bride and the groom's comune of residence (which is normally the same place where the children were born). You should be able to use that to find a clue as to where the marriage was actually celebrated, if you even require the original marriage record (since the publication record contains the same information).
If you'd like more specific advice or assistance, do feel free to post specific information about your ancestors.

Thank you SO much! I will definitely check the pubblicazione since the line goes back to the 1700's. I appreciate your taking the time to answer.
