German birth abstract translation please
This is a birth registration (right?) for Konrad Windfuhr, born in Hamburg, 1890. His father was Carl Henrich Windfuhr and mother was Anna Sophia Caroline Windfuhr nee Riebenstein.
does this state the occupation of the father, Carl? Where was the birth (Hamburg?) and where was this registry? Any other pertinent detail?
down in the lower left, is a record of his death in 1978 (that is when he died) - if the main text is a birth registry, is it customary to later note the death date and place?

Hello @bonniesamuel1,
This is a German civil (i.e., non-religious) birth registration record. It is not an abstract. Civil registration records for births, marriages, and deaths, were required in all of Germany beginning in 1876. This type of record is similar to a birth certificate issued by a county or city in the United States. Note that if the family was religious there could also be a baptismal record for this child recorded in the family's local church parish register.
Here is a complete translation of this civil birth record:
Number 1895.
Hamburg, on the 14th of October 1890.
Before the undersigned civil registrar appeared today, recognized through Hamburg citizenship paper(s), the _____? physician, medical doctor, and surgeon Johann Anton Schmidt, living in St. Georg, Lindenstraße 37, [blank] religion, and reported that from Anna Sophia Caroline Windfuhr, née Riebenstein, wife of the merchant Carl Heinrich Windfuhr, both Lutheran religion, living with her husband, [in] Uhlenhorst, Humboldtstraße 43, at Uhlenhorst in the already-mentioned residence on the 11th of October 1890, after midday at 7:45 pm a child of the male gender was born who received the forename Konrad. The informant [i.e., Dr. Johann Anton Schmidt who was reporting this birth to the civil registration office] stated that he was present during the delivery/childbirth of Mrs. Windfuhr.
Read aloud, approved, and signed: Dr. Joh[ann] Ant[on] Schmidt.
The Civil Registrar: [signature]
[Note in lower left corner which does refer to the death of Konrad Windfuhr]: Died in Hamburg, Civil Registry Office Hamburg-Altona, [death record] no. 951 on 25 March 1978.
My comments: Note that the date at the top of the record is the date this birth was registered at the local civil registry office in Hamburg. But the actual date of birth is recorded in the body of the record, which I have bolded for you.
The father's occupation is: Kaufmann = merchant.
"St. Georg" and "Uhlenhorst" are districts within the city of Hamburg.
According to the abstract for this record which I found on Ancestry, this birth was registered at the Hamburg Civil Registry Office 21.
Yes, it is fairly common to find other notes about marriages, deaths, etc., written on these civil registration records.

Robert, thanks once again...you are always a great help in many ways.
This record, now translated, sheds light on some questions and now I have a better understanding and can confirm some relationships too. Interestingly, Konrad was a cousin to my Grandmother and he compiled a well documented family history of the Windfuhrs.
Your help is greatly appreciated, Robert.
