LOOKING FOR ANCESTORS OF HERMANN WÜRDEMANN BORN IN BREMEN IN JULY 1906

I did two things: first I checked the arrival lists, and looks like he arrived 24th of August 1930 the first time. On that arrival list, it says his mom is Agnes Wuerdemann, residing at Moeckerstr. 33. Which matched the information provided on the second passenger arrival list.
Only, the first passenger list indicated he was going to his Br.I.L (Brother-in-Law) D. Heinrich Emker at 550 Westside Ave. Jersey City. This may seem unhelpful, and you probably already have this information. I would check the Brother in Law out, to see if there is any arrival information on his wife, who should be Hermann's sister. Perhaps, the father died, and that may be why Agnes is mentioned on both passenger arrival lists, instead of the dad. I will check a few other records and get back to you. But, for now, please search out Heinrich Emker, he should be on a 1930 US Census record, and maybe he and his wife came over earlier.

I looked around in a few places. Since we have his mother's address back home, I hoped to find something in an address book. FamilySearch does have address books for Bremen, however, they are either too early, and there was one for later than the arrival date. You could check these to see if the Agnes and her husband show up. I did check the 1901 address book, and it had a few Würdemann(s). However, these didn't seem like a match. I will post the link here for you to check. https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/195735?availability=Family%20History%20Library. You should be able to view these if signed in. 1936 is the latest, you could check it to be sure.
I also went to Die Maus, a Bremen specific site with some great resources, and I looked up Würdemann in the Passregister 1862-1936, and found a few, but these were too early. You may want to try the Brother-in-law, and see what comes up. Passregister was one place I checked, but you will want to look as well. The other is Emigration Bremer Bürger. When in that page, click on Name, in the top left corner under DATENBANK.
The last thing I did was look up the address Moeckerstr. 33. I think it might best for you to contact the Standesamt Bremen-Mitte. https://www.service.bremen.de/sixcms/detail.php?gsid=5bremen02.c.335132.de&asl=bremen2014_sp.c.13091.de.
Contact them, and ask if your person, Hermann Würdeman/Wuerdemann might be in their records. You will need to provide his birthday, and his mothers name. By asking, they can check to see if he is even there. Or you might be able to ask for his mother's death record. It might provide the name of her husband. Here's the email link: standesamtmitte@inneres.bremen.de
As far as your email and letter writing is concerned, we have a helpful resource in the Germany Genealogy Research Wiki, that will help you write a letter in German. They will most likely be able to read English, but as a courtesy, and good practice, its better to ask in German.

@Kendall Sanford We are so glad you have joined our German community - It is a great place to get help and to help others! We have a lot of talented, experienced participants here.
Most of the time, it is best to use "ask a question" - do this by selecting the arrow to the right of "new discussion". Asking a question allows you to accept the answer or let us know you would like more help.
Be sure to review the links at the top of our community page for some great resources. We look forward to hearing from you. We are so glad you are part of this great community!
Thanks for being patient as we sometimes must wait for a response to come from a volunteer with the needed skill set. It is always good if you include the identification number of the person in question in Family Search Family Tree so we can see the bigger picture.
We look forward to your comments and questions.
Enjoy today! Cindy Jarvis
