Hello Kent:
Translation:
On the 24th of May 1757, after the early sermon was held, were married Johann Philipp Roesch, surviving unmarried son of the late Johann Roesch, former member of the council, [of the] shoemaker craft/trade, with Margaretha Magdalena, unmarried legitimate daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm Raicher, juryman and bathhouse operator.
My comment: The groom Johann Philipp Roesch is of the shoemaker craft or a shoemaker craftsman, not his father. We see later in Margaretha Magdalena's May 1815 death record that Johann Philipp Roesch had become a master shoemaker.

Thanks Robert, Can you remind me how you learned to read German script and the German language. I'm very interested. This would be impossible for most people and yet here we are. You reading and me benefiting every day. I view this as a miracle.

I took a BYU independent study course on German genealogical research and focused on learning to read the German script. That was 6 years ago. (As far as I know, this course is no longer offered.) Then I practiced, practiced, practiced. Then this German community forum came along about 3+ years ago and that gave me the opportunity to practice my interpretation and reading skills on a daily basis. The parish register records are fairly formulaic so once you learn how to read names, the German words for birth, baptism, marriage, death, and burial, the German words for father, mother, husband, wife, son, daughter, etc., and how to read German dates and numbers, you have the basis for what you need to read the records.

I once read that the definition of intelligence is the ability to make connections between different bits of information or pieces of knowledge. You have a high degree of intelligence. I am amazed at what you are able to do and what you can hold in your head. It is all the more astounding when taken into account the fact these aren't your ancestors. You have amazing recall as well. When all this is taken into account you the ability to work very complex Pastoral entries into cogent, sensible, clear pieces that bring these people to life.
The other thing I have been thinking about is: I wonder if I didn't have your generosity where would I be. I'm sure some of the documents would get translated but your diligence and tenacity has made my research reach a whole new level. Also your translations are seen by people like Ulrich. There seems to be a high degree of respect and cooperation between all your fellow translators. You are amazing. All the best to you, Kent
