From the experiences of myself and others, it appears that creating a User Tree is not available to everyone yet. If so,

  1. Who can create a user tree currently?
  2. When will the option be available to everyone? Even an estimate would be helpful.

Thank you. I did try to locate the answer to this, but was unsuccessful.

    @Laralee and @MrsLCJ We appreciate your interest about when user trees will be available to more users and preferably everyone. We are hoping it will be soon but do not have an estimate to share at this time.

    While we will not reveal the criteria about who can create a user tree, we will explain how to know if you have access:

    If you go through Search > Genealogies > Upload Your Individual Tree, or Family Tree > Manage Trees, and see the following screen with specifically the "Trees You Created" sectionw with an Upload GEDCOM button, then that user has access. (Genealogies is the older system before user trees started and where the GEDCOMs for those who do not have access are being uploaded.)

    This is a great question. Today is 19 May 2026, and this doesn't appear to be available for my husband yet.
