home town file at

https://www.familysearch.org/de/search/catalog/232907?availability=Family%20History%

for over ten years the card file could be checked online (camera symbol). actual status: a mix of reel and camera and/or a notification about 'limited access'. 1.) Is there any chance to regain the former status with free access to the card file? 2) What was the reason for the change?

@sarpei Without Rights Management confirmation, I can’t say for certain but it seems all films in this collection were meant to be restricted. Only six out of 265 are accessible, likely by mistake. Permissions may have been changed intentionally due to references to living individuals in the card file. The change could be temporary, and this is one of several collections we will ask them to review.

It's a real shame that these films are no longer accessible. They were extremely helpful to me in my family research.
I also don't understand why ALL of these films were accessible for years and suddenly are no longer, except for six of them.
I really hope that the restriction will be removed and ALL films will be accessible again.

    Thank you.

There's been a massive wave of clampdowns on materials such as this due to privacy concerns worldwide. Part of it may be that we have an increase of bad actors in the world, both state and non-state, that use such access to bring personal harm in various ways.
