"New Zealand, Cemetery Transcriptions 1835–2006". Errors: Incorrect place for group of records
This collection seems to have been recently updated (currently dated 20 Jan 2026). A group of records relating to burials in the Hillsborough Cemetery (standardised place Hillsborough Cemetery, Hillsborough, Auckland, New Zealand) has been incorrectly indexed with a place of Hillsborough, Christchurch, New Zealand. This is in #115673181, item 5. There is such a suburb in Christchurch, but that is not the correct place (the two Hillsboroughs are about 1000 km apart). It seems that this error is repeated for all burial transcriptions in that item (cemetery).
Here is a screenshot of the first burial in that item:
Can these errors be bulk-repaired?
There are also errors in transcriptions for some Awanui Cemetery, New Plymouth burials; these are indexed as Awanui, Far North, New Zealand which is 100s of kilometres away from New Plymouth.

@JulianBrown38 These were correctly indexed before migration but changed during the process. A fix has not yet been implemented, but I’ve added this and many others to the monitoring list for this kind of error. Thanks for the detailed report.

@SerraNola I have another source with a similar problem. In this case the original place is Clyde Cemetery, Clyde, Central Otago, New Zealand. It has been migrated as Wairoa, Wairoa, New Zealand.
Do we need to report each place that has been migrated incorrectly (obviously not every individual burial), or is the future fix going to review all the places that were migrated in the recent update to the collection?
Thanks.

@JulianBrown38 So apparently the original name of Wairoa was Clyde…..
Once we have documented a collection as having place name errors more reports are not necessary but I encourage any and all contributions to ensure finding all that are needing to be fixed.
