Why have Zevenaar's 4 Wills archives gone missing?
Zevenaar, Gelderland, Netherlands | 1577 | 1577 | Wills | 33 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Zevenaar, Gelderland, Netherlands | 1611 | 1614 | Wills | 46 |
Zevenaar, Gelderland, Netherlands | 1623 | 1642 | Wills | 211 |
Zevenaar, Gelderland, Netherlands | 1647 | 1647 | Wills | 16 |
The above is a screen copy from a few months ago after searching via Search/Images for place 'Zevenaar'. At that time, I had started translating a will from 1625. When I repeat the search now, there are no Wills archives displayed in Zevenaar's search results. Help ! Thanks. Michael.

@SerraNola can you help please?

@MichaelArendsen I can't say whether or not there was a contractual change stipulating the removal of "wills" but that is how it appears. The problem is that there is not a clear difference in the cover (or content) pages between some marked as court documents and those marked as wills, so I will look into it.

Your help is really appreciated, fingers crossed the archives are still lurking somewhere :-)

Hi,
Are you able to tell me if any progress has been made in locating the 4 Zevenaar will archives? Thanks. Michael

@MichaelArendsen I made the case that the items labeled as "wills" actually contain the same content as those categorized as court records, which may be the reason for their restriction. We now await review by Rights Management and there may be a significant backlog of similar requests.

I really appreciate your help. Perhaps access will be granted. Many thanks.

@MichaelArendsen Update: Rights Management only confirmed that Netherlands inheritance-related records require indefinite restriction. I have asked the metadata team to decide whether these should be classified as court records or wills for consistency.
