4th great grandfather
There is no documents on who the parents of my 4th great grandfather were. But there are 2 different sets of parents from family lore from different people. Alert notes have been placed on his page asking to not delete either set until there is definite proof which set of parents he belongs to. But once again one set has been deleted with no proof showing who are his parents. I have restored the 2nd set of parents again. Is there another way to stop this happening again until we have definite records that prove which set of parents are his?

Hi @KarenThayer
Can you share the PID (identifying code near the name) of your 4th great-grandfather? We can better advise when we know the specifics.
The FamilySearch Family Tree is fully open edit and collaborative. Any signed-in user may edit. Sources are, of course, encouraged but not required.
The more information we attach, generally, the less likely it is that someone will change without sources or evidence. You can also open a dialogue with other contributors through the chat messaging option.
Hope this helps. Happy Holidays!1 -

On the "Collaborate" tab, you might want to move your "Note" to the "Discussion" section.
Notes can be modified and deleted by anyone, whereas Discussions cannot.
I am unsure if a user can modify or delete their own Discussion.
Also suggest adding paragraph breaks for easier reading which may help to get the point across (I know that my eyes glaze over when confronted with a huge block of text).

Thank you I will try that.

Yes, @Nyx773, users can edit or delete the Discussions we create.
