Unable to revert parent / child relationship to Biological

Update - I think I discovered the problem, which is now resolved. Somehow, the Biological relationship was remaining "alongside" the Step one. I deleted the Step one and the change finally stuck. Before that, I had been trying to Edit from Step to Biological, so it seems one has to Delete instead.

A person can have more than one parent relationship type, but only one of each kind. In this case, Georgina currently has both a Biological relationship (added by another user way back in 2012) and the Step relationship you recently added.
When you try to edit that Step relationship type to be Biological, saving it would create a second Biological type, but only one is allowed, so you get an error.
If you want to have only a single Biological relationship type, then the solution is for you to delete the Step relationship type that you added. Then the only relationship type will be the Biological one from 2012. Don't delete the whole relationship -- just the Step relationship type.

Thank you very much for your response. As you can see, I discovered as much at about the same time you were posting your comments! A bit confusing, but I will try to remember not to "Edit" if this crops up again.
