I only see this one person with this PID. It looks like this individual has 2 father's - one is tagged as adoptive.

There are 2 obituaries for her sister. Are those the records in question? If so, I would keep both because they have different published dates and may contain different text.

@JohnsonBeverleyJones1 - I don't want to come on too technical but it's absolutely impossible to have 2 people with the same PID - that's because the PID is the key of the person record and the system ensures those keys (PIDs) are unique.

Now, what can throw people is when they see the same person twice in a diagram or screen or something when they're not expecting it. They think that there must be two of them in the system, when, in fact, they're seeing the same person twice in the diagram.

I'm wondering if that's what happened to you… As @Amy Archibald indicates, if you go to the screen for Mary John Bryant (KHJT-RT9), then on the right (at least it is on the right on my PC) you'll see Mary twice - once under her (presumably) birth parents and a second time under John Clark who's apparently her adoptive father - at least, that's what the system is saying he is. That's why Mary appears twice on the right hand side.

This is fine and you don't need to worry about it.

Whether or not it's accurate is another matter - in fact, I don't think it is correct. If you go to Mary's 1910 census and look at the original, both Mary and her sister Alma appear on the image and it says "adopted G Daughter", i.e. adopted grand-daughter, not adopted daughter. Their parents (Allen and Arminta) are recorded as adopted son and adopted daughter. Maybe Arminta is the adopted daughter and Allen is therefore an adoptive son-in-law if there is such a thing…

But honestly, someone who knows the family needs to look at this and work out whether I'm right with my suspicions or not…

@JohnsonBeverleyJones1 Can you send the two URLs for the two different individuals with the same PID?
