Italian record indexing

Good morning everyone, I'd like to clarify a few things about the indexing of Italian documents:

  1. Searching my surname on Familysearch in the Tuscan civil registry, 1804-1874 (https://www.familysearch.org/it/search/ ... on/1932364), which is held in the State Archives of Florence, yields a series of results (no longer visible on FS due to an agreement with the Italian state) but can be found on Antenati. The reverse (i.e., searching on Antenati) does not yield the same results.
  2. Similarly, the new "full text" search returns different records than the previous search;
  3. Is the list of indexed municipalities or years available, and for what type (births, marriages, deaths, decennial indexes, etc.), especially now that they are being indexed with AI and updates appear almost daily? A list was circulating on Familysearch many years ago, but I can't find an updated one; This is because, still using the previous marital status as an example, the indexing is not complete, and it would be useful to understand which periods or types are already indexed and which are not.

Thanks everyone

    To my knowledge, the AI indexing and full text searching are not available on Antenati yet (nor an I sure they will be). So you are left doing more robust searching on Family Search and turning to Antenati for images in many cases (and also knowing that there are images which have been indexed on Family Search that are not available on Antenati).

    On your third question, someone who is on the inside with Family Search will need to answer. I'm not sure such a thing exists currently.

    @genealogiadavini FamilySearch has a list of historical record collections online, but I don't believe it specifies if they have been indexed (although I suspect most are). In the collection type box (at the top of the list) enter in Italy for record lists in that particular county.

    Hi, I know well this list, but this is the list of all the available collection online. If you go to https://www.familysearch.org/en/blog/new-records-november-2025#europe-1 you have the "indexed record" in the only November (as example). So, why don't have a list of the indexed record in specific?

    My understanding is that all Historical Record Collections are indexed, by definition of FS' term Historical Record, but that Image Collections may or may not be (and that indexing associates the relevant Image Collection to a specific Historical Record Collection).

    The other key listing is this one https://www.familysearch.org/en/records/collections/results?page=1&view=list which lists all Image Collections, for each one providing a magnifying glass to search the relevant Historical Record Collection if any. Note that in many cases some Images in the Image Collection are indexed while others are not and that this listing clarifies this point also.

    To complete the picture, obviously some Historical Record Collections are not associated with FS Image Collections because they obtain their metadata externally (from Find my Past, Find a Grave, etc. etc.), or because they are index-only for one reason or another.
