    @PatriciaDawn

    I think this is your record. When searching, I had to limit the search to the UK instead of Manchester, and it popped up. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-9965-64WP?view=index&personArk=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3ANNTR-PN4&action=view&cc=1473015&lang=en&groupId=

    Hello @PatriciaDawn,

    Here is the link to the record you are looking for. It is marriage record no. 141 dated 18 February 1878 and the groom is George Bateman. It is the record at the top of the page.

    https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-8965-64TN?view=index&cc=1473015&lang=en&groupId=

    It appears the actual images and the index entries are not aligned.

    @PatriciaDawn For what it's worth (because @Robert Seal_1 has pointed you to the right page) what looks like a better index to the image of the original can be found in the collection England, Manchester, Parish Registers, 1603-1954. I browsed the list of collections asking for collections containing "Manchester" and saw that collection name. From there I clicked on that collection name and searched for the 1878 marriage in question. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QLBP-CL7W?lang=en is the index record for George Bateman senior and it will go straight to the correct image.

    If you look at the collection for the index record that doesn't point to the correct image, the collection in question is England Marriages, 1538–1973. That, if I understand things correctly, is referred to as a Legacy Collection, which may date back to the IGI (International Genealogical Index). FamilySearch have been trying to map these Legacy Collection indexes to the images of the original documents. I have a personal view that this is proving very challenging for them and, if anyone can use a county specific collection (such as England, Manchester, Parish Registers, 1603-1954), then these are modern collections that are far more likely to be successful, as here.

    So - in my view, if anyone has problems with one of these countrywide collections like England Marriages, 1538–1973, you may be better off trying to find the corresponding "county" level collection like England, Manchester, Parish Registers, 1603-1954 and use that for your searches.

    ( @SerraNola please correct me if I have this wrong - a little knowledge is a dangerous thing in my case. Not sure if there is anything feasible to be done here given all the other issues?)
