Since a few days I can not see the catalog or the films at my computer.

I tried several options from clearing cookies etc…

I am using Chrome on Windows 7 professional computer.

Most time I see this error message "Oops, something…"(see attached printscreen)

    Google Chrome doesn't support Windows 7 any longer (since 2023). With that in mind, there could be many features or fixes 0r security updates that are missing. That would cause many problems.

    If you are using another version and still need help, reply and there might one of the following we can help with. What's the first thing you see when you log in? Have you changed any settings on your computer? Do you have a VPN turned on?

    Looking at  https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/which-internet-browsers-are-compatible  , FamilySearch only supports its websites on the current and most recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox, and the current and most recent operating system versions. This will mean in practice that FS' frequent changes are likely to have been tested only in these environments.

    If your browser and/or operating system doesn't meet the requirements at the above link, a likely scenario is that the functionality that is failing has been changed and now uses browser technology in a way that is not supported on the software you are currently using.

    You could try testing on a different browser.

    If that doesn't help, I am afraid you're unlikely to be able to use the relevant functionality without upgrading your operating system and/or browser to supported levels. It may be that your hardware will support such an upgrade, or sadly it may not.

    I have found that Windows 7 and Chrome work for some areas of FamilySearch but not all. If you can provide screen shots and descriptions of what you are seeing, I may be able to get more definitive answers, Also, as Mandy said, try other browsers. Firefox and Edge work in different areas, With all the changes in technology the last 5 years, anything is possible!

    @Henk Penders

    FamilySearch works on modern Windows platforms, including Windows 10 and Windows 11, primarily through a supported web browser like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Mozilla Firefox. For dedicated desktop applications, Windows 10 and 11 are compatible with genealogy software like Family Tree Maker, which has a minimum requirement of Windows 10 or later.

    @Henk Penders Sometimes you can get updates - my computer tech fixed mine to Windows 10 and it works great and sometimes all you need to do is Customize Chrome Best wishes
