Kirchenbuchduplikat, 1833-1885 / St Petersburg Ev Church Duplicates - Unable to view some records

Sometime over the last week, some of the files from this collection became no longer available. This is the message I receive.

I have been accessing many of these files regularly over the months - particularly 1881. It is odd that it only some of the 120 odd files in the main collection that are restricted.

The years that appear to be restricted are 1834, 1839, 1841-43, 1853 (partial), 1855, 1857 (partial), 1858, 1862 (partial), 1869 (partial), 1870-71 (partial), 1881 (partial), 1882 (partial), 1885 (partial)

Is there a reason only these files have been restricted?

Thank you

Ryan Fischer

@RyanFischer3 I agree. Something doesn't seem quite right here. It may take a while to get it checked out.

I have this problem too. I use these records all the time so this is putting a serious wrinkle in my genealogy work.

The error message says that image access may be based on custodian requirements. But it makes no sense that a few years in a collection that all come from the same archive/custodian would not be accessible but that other years are accessible.

Something is definitely wrong, and it is creating serious issues for a lot of researchers. It's not just the St. Petersburg records though, many other collections are having the same problems.

Same issue. I've tried accessing via VPN from outside the U.S., including from Russia and Ukraine, with the same results. Maybe there was recent database maintenance that went awry? Really bad timing on this as the holidays are when families are together and a prime time for genealogy research.

Our rights management team is currently investigating this matter. At this time, I am unable to provide an estimated timeline for resolution.

It appears that access has been restored. Can everyone who was having problems confirm this?

A number of the ones I reported originally are restored but I still see that:

    1852 (1852: Births, marriages, deaths ( 828-14/72), 1883185 Items 1 - 2

    1881 (1881: Births, marriages, deaths ( 828-14/245), 1897593 Items 1 - 3

    are restricted.

Also 1885 (1897695) appears restricted, but its not one I typically access

    Ryan
