verify place names
On the list of places to use to verify a place - if the only options are the name of a parish, suburb, and or registration district - Is that used?

@MaryAnneReynoldsSmith good question. Here is a knowledge article that might help.

@MaryAnneReynoldsSmith - place names in the UK and no doubt elsewhere, are sufficiently imprecise that little harm can come from using a parish, suburb or registration district instead of a "normal" settlement. A suburb would actually seem quite precise anyway, while parish and settlement can be quite interchangeable. I know that several of my relatives gave their birthplace in the 1851 census as the parish, rather than the settlement (for once, they had different names), and it was only some time later that I worked out what was going on.
So, I don't think that too much harm will come of this.
Remember, the objective is to get something useful rather than a perfect answer - we only see these events in Verify Places if they have nothing at all in the standard placename. Better to have something slightly the wrong shape on the map (but in roughly the right place) than nothing at all.
