I cannot see my fathers 'siblings' but I can see my mothers 'siblings' why is this?
If I click on the 'right arrow' on my fathers entry, when looking at the tree, this is when I get the message, "relationship change A relationship change was detected, refresh pedigree to get the latest changes." ???? and if I click to refresh it doesn't change anything.
If I do the same to my mothers profile I displays all her siblings!!
If I click on my father's, father it displays his details on the right side and then when I click on 'tree' it displays all their children, including my father! This is one way of looking at the tree but why can't I do it just from my father?
Thanks..

This particular aspect of the Family Tree can be confusing. Fortunately this issue is very rare, and once you fix it, you won't have to worry about it again.
To make things act more normally, you need to swap the order for your father's parents. To do this,
- In the Tree view, click on your father
- in the sidebar that is shown on the right, click PERSON, which will show his person page
- Down in the Family Members section, locate your father in the Parents and Siblings column. Click on the pencil icon to the right of his name.
- In the Parent-Child Relationship pop-up that is shown, you should see a button near the bottom labeled SWITCH PARENT POSITIONS. Click that.
- Provide a reason, and click SAVE.
That should make his father appear on the left side in Tree views, and your father's siblings should appear properly, just as your mother's siblings already do.

@Alan E. Brown Thank you for finding that new location for switching parents. It certainly makes more sense to offer it in the parent-child relationship rather than the spouse relationship. I ran into this a while ago and haven't needed to switch since then. It is possible that along with moving the fix they have also fixed the way the children are added so that the system checks for other relationships and matches what is already there. Dunno. As you said, it is a relatively rare occurrence.
@James68430 So glad we were able to help!

@James68430 That is a little odd trick that is usually caused because the parents are in a different order for some of the children than for others. To clarify, suppose you put your dad in and then added his dad and then his mom. Your dad will have his father as Parent1 and his mother as Parent2. But then suppose your were still on his mom's page when you added the other siblings, they will have mom as Parent1 and dad as Parent2. So when you are trying to view all the siblings, the system freaks out and says, 'the parents are different! ' When this happens and the system refreshes, you will notice that the parent order has switched.
If you click on the parents' marriage, there should be an option to switch parent order. That should make all the kids have the same parent order.

@AnneLoForteWillson Your comment about the effects of inconsistent parent ordering is certainly helpful. However, getting the parents out of order can't happen the way you described, and can't be fixed the way you described.
- If you add a sibling when you are on the mother's person page, that will definitely not result in the mother being in the Parent1 position. The father will still be in the Parent1 position, whether you add a sibling from the father's or the mother's person page. It's quite difficult to get the mother in the Parent1 position, and generally requires a couple steps of replacing a parent in an existing parent-child relationship.
- The option to switch parent order is not available when you click on a marriage (that will edit the couple relationship, which only lets you change the couple order). To switch parent order, you need to click on the pencil icon to the right of a child, which lets you change the parent-child relationship; if the father and mother are out of order (or it is a **** set of parents), then you will have the option to switch the parent order. Note that if there are multiple children with the parents in the wrong order, you'll need to edit each of those children's parent-child relationship.

Thank you both for your comments. I'm totally confused now.
I signed myself up to FamilySearch and created myself.
Then I cannot remember who I added first, my own mother or father; I suspect my mother because I know more about her side.
However, I did not add my Fathers parents, it was FamilySearch that did that.

I've just checked (please excuse me as I'm new and I feel like I'm tapping in the dark here,,,, but) and on 'my tree' all the 'men' are on the left side of the 'married couples' so this seems like some default position?
On my mothers side of the tree her father is left and mother right when displaying the tree… Now I see how with my Fathers parents, the mother is on the left and father on the right!!!
I think what I'm typing next is over the top but to be clear.. I now 'kinda of' get to wha you are both saying..
When I click on 'right arrow' on my fathers mother, then it displays her siblings (and partners) but when I click on the 'left arrow' on my fathers, father I then get nothing and the 'refresh pedigree' message.

is this helpful?
do I need to follow both your instructions or what is next?
Thank you so much…
