@tagging not working in Community

November 6 in General Questions

For the last couple of days I have been unable to use @tagging at all in Community. Either (usually) nothing comes up at all or I just get 2 (unfamiliar) names listed, one starting with lowercase l and one with lowercase h.

I have tried on my 'phone (Android, Chrome up to date), and on Windows 11 (up to date, Chrome up to date, Edge up to date).

I have tried clearing my FS cookies.

I have tried 2 different FS accounts.

Nothing works, I seem only able to tag people by quoting existing comments.

Is it just me?

    I seem to be having the same issue. I will see if we can get it reported.

    @MandyShaw1 and @sc woz I can do some tagging (as is clear from these tags). But it requires patience and luck. More often than not, typing something after the @ sign will not bring up the list of matching user names. But fairly often (perhaps about a third of the time), I do see the selection list and can create a tag.

    I have not been able to determine any steps that consistently allow tag creation; I just have to keep trying, and eventually it works. Sometimes it works several times in a row, and sometimes it fails several times in a row.

    It's been fairly broken for a while, but I have tried over and over again on multiple threads (refreshing them between tries), browsers, and devices over the last couple of days, with no success ever ... Maybe geographical location (and/or Cloudflare's checks, or my slightly dodgy internet connections (two different ones both showing this behaviour)) have something to do with it, but otherwise it's just a mystery.

    @MandyShaw1

    As you can see, it appears not to be working for me at present. I don't think this is the first time there has been a problem, but certainly a while since I've had any trouble.

    I guess it's a case of who needs to fix it: someone within FamilySearch or Vanilla.

    @MandyShaw1 A minute ago, I successfully tagged in a different discussion, but I can't tag in this discussion.

    @JulianBrown38 @Alan E. Brown @sc woz @Paul W

    It now seems to be working again, all four of you were listed straight away when I put in the first two characters of your names!

    Just to follow up for grins and giggles -

    @MandyShaw1 @sc woz

    Oh good, seems to still be in order for now. I remember it not working off and on, as well.
