I will answer based on the limited information given, and my experience with FamilySearch & Indexing. I note your question is coming in in reference to the Get Involved projects, but does not name which one. Generally, the instruction for sourcing, is to attach every source no matter how many times it seems repeated. This precludes the next same source being used to create a separate, but duplicate entry in FS. The same will apply to indexing or name reviews. Much of this work now is training the AI's to recognize a good name, and spell and highlight it correctly. So, yes, it seems redundant, but our human job is to give our AI pets as many 'ata-boys' as possible, and correct where needed.
Depending on the instructions with the project you are working on, the secondary and tertiary people you find in the sources (may) be left alone and not entered. However, if you are working SourceLinker during your regular work in FamilySearch - you ALWAYS want to review all images available, and search for secondary family, and other details not extracted with the primary focus - but that clearly help with the family vitals and details. Your concern for this is evidence you are on the right path to be a keen genealogist.
