I am stuck in Private Family mode.

How do I switch from private to public mode?

There used to be an option in the top-left drop-down "FamilySearch Tree" menu, but it is now gone.

I would like to have both the private (mine) and public views of the same persons open in two different tabs to compare for missed data.

In the top left, there is a dropdown to switch between the FamilySearch tree and any Family Group or CET trees you may have.

Exactly. Only my private families are listed in the menu.

The top one is the full FamilySearch Tree. Click on that.
