Alternative Spelling
- How do I merge records to a person in my family tree when its has an alternative spelling.
- I need to delete a person in my family tree that is not related to me but its related indirectly link to a family member who is my ancester.
3. Can you make the application more user friendly similar to Ancestry. Its very frustrating when you cannot merge or conduct quick edit. You have to manuver several time before it may provide option to accept or merge, if any.

3. Unlike Ancestry you do not have a family tree. You are working in the single, wiki-style tree that all of us users work in together. This is one of the reason FamilySearch does program high risk activities such as merging in ways to make us slow down and make sure we are dealing with the relatives we think we are dealing with and not unrelated people of the same name.
- If the program does not present two profiles as possible duplicates due to differences in spelling or vague information but you have confirmed fully that they are the same person, you use the Merge By ID function found in the Tools section in the right hand column of the profile page.
2. You cannot delete profiles in your family tree because you do not have a tree. You cannot delete profiles in Family Tree unless you are the only contributor to that profile. You can, however, delete relationships using the pencil icon on the profile page in the Family Members section next to each couple event and next to each child's name. But why would you want to remove a profile if it is in its proper place linking it to your common ancestor? Family Tree is a universal tree that is to contain all people that have ever lived linked properly to their parents, spouses and children. Only incorrect relationships should be deleted.
