My research shows that the data for an individual is actually from two separate individuals with the same name, and this person is also connected to two different sets of parents. How do I split this person into two individuals and connect each to the correct parents?

Hi, it would really help if you provided the PID for the person in question. However, this is normally the result of a merge. You can go to the latest changes for the individual you have and review any merges that were done. You can then restore the individual that was incorrectly merged. Just be aware that after you do, there is a lot of cleanup of sources and memories that may need to be done. Here are the more detailed instructions.

Many thanks for your help. I was able to correct the situation, but as you say, it did take some time to cleanup the sources.

The articles such as "Undo a merge in Family Tree" are very helpful. Are they compiled in a user manual of some sort, or do you have to access each one separately?

Thank you again for your assistance.

All the help articles are available on Family Search under the help center. In the upper right corner, click on the circle with the question mark On the drop down, select the help center and then ask you question. You will find lots of help there.

Glad you go the merge straightened out.
