Does FamilySearch no longer allow people to add GEDCOMs to the main FS Tree?

I just heard from someone today that GEDCOMs can only be used at FS to create Trees in the CETs area and not to add names to the main tree. It appears under Genealogies that this is the case but I can see nothing that explicitly states this . So it this truth or fiction?

The website clearly states that this is now the case:

The Learn More links takes you to a help center article discussing this change: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/the-new-gedcom-upload-experience

@Gordon Collett - thank you for the response. Unless mud is clear, FamilySearch skirted my issue with the statement in blue above. If they wanted to be clear they should have said:
"GEDCOMs will no longer be uploaded to Genealogies where they can then be imputed into the FamilySearch Family Tree. New GEDCOMs can only be uploaded a CET tree."

I do like the final upcoming feature - I invision it as like the way you can sync your LDS version of a tree at Ancestry with FSFT. That is a very helpful feature for manually moving data between your tree and the FS tree going either direction.

This is something that should have been done many years ago but all's well that ends well. Thanks for finally doing this.

Technically, GEDCOMs were never inputted into Family Tree. They were only uploaded to create a Pedigree Resource File tree. Being able to import a PRF tree that we had created into Family Tree was a separate function. But that is being rather unnecessarily pedantic.

I do see that my list of PRF trees is still there and I can still access the function to import them into Family Tree. I just can't create any new PRF trees.

Yes, we don't need to split hairs here. It is just so sweet that the loop-hole has been closed. I don't think the big problem is the old trees that were uploaded - the main issue would be the new ones as they are uploaded. That is when (I believe) the most damage is done.

It is amazing when looking back in just the recent past (say the last year or two) all the changes and adjustments that have been done to improve the site. More needs to be done but things are moving in the right direction.

    Thanks for responding.

@Gordon Collett I'm not sure why it is different, but the message I see at https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/import/files is not the same as your screenshot.

Áine, you are seeing the actual upload popup that appears after you click Upload GEDCOM. My screen shot is of one of those random information about a new feature popups that tend to come and go. It appears when I first come to the page. I don't have to click on anything to see it. I also don't know why some people have it appear and others don't.

Gordon, I looked right after your earlier post on this subject, and I did not see the new feature pop-up then, either. One would think FS would want all of us to see the good news. 😎

Do you already have some CET trees? I don't. Maybe that is the difference.

I do - I was invited to be a very early tester on CET.
