Researching Q.A.I.M.N.S.R Alexandria theatre
G'day to you all
My grand-aunt, Alice Maud Bromby, joined the Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve and held the rank of Sister and was sent out to Alexandria. I have her medal card and the actual medals. There are a few sites providing general information on the history of this organisation and their extensive roles during the first world war and other theatres of conflict.
If any FS users have ancestors who were equally part of this quite amazing "group" of nurses and in particular who equally worked out in ALexandria I would love to hear from you. Having her medals is one thing, but having history / stories etc of those who worked in Alexandria would be tremendous. What uniform did they wear, and what were living and working conditions like.
My aim is to not only to provide "Memories" information on her in the FS tree but also to make a presentation to my daughter in-law, her namesake, who is equally in the medical profession being a doctor in the ER section of a large hospital.
Any information greatly received.
Regards

There was a book published in 1922 called Reminiscent Sketches 1914 to 1919 by Members of Her Majesty Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service, which has a chapter "Nursing in Egypt and Palestine, 1915 to 1919"
There is an image of the cover and Contents page shown in https://www.greatwarforum.org/topic/293546-updated-bibliography-of-books-on-the-salonika-campaign/page/4/#findComment-3380063
There are also Categories in the Great War Forum called Women and the Great War https://www.greatwarforum.org/?forumId=113 and Medical Services https://www.greatwarforum.org/?forumId=203 which you could either browse or Search in
There possibly may be something in the website http://www.scarletfinders.co.uk/

@MaureenE123
Thank you very much for these guidance tips - I guess you are the same MaureenE in the first link. For the second link after a quick browse another person was enquiring after a nurse from the same organisation. Once I get back onto my desk top computer I can carry out a detailed study and join the forums.
Once again thank you for your help particularly as I have other ancestors who participated in the Great War and the forums might be a source of additional information.
There doesn’t seem to be a badge for being a star - though there is awesome which I tagged - but you are a star.
