Seeing no one posted about the problem:

Indexed records, show up in hints, showing the parish / village (not city ones, thank you).

When using source linker, the linker wiped out the parish/village like it doesn't exist at all.

This needs to stop now. This has been going on for at least 3 years now. Many villages in Rheinland are affected.

Literally I am tired of having to restore every time this happens in Source Linker.

Most blatant has to be this

Kastel-Staadt, Saarburg, Rhein, Preußen, Deutschland (which is very correct)

replaced with Trier, Rhein, Preußen, Deutschland which is very very wrong)

In this case, there are TWO Kastel, one near Trier and other one in Kr. Saarburg that is Kastel-Staadt, frequently just Kastel. Metadata in this case it is Kastel-Staadt.

This is not the only case. There are villages/parishes in Kr. Saarburg getting wiped out and replaced with Trier, like Saarburg doesn't exist.

The problem is that place names and their iterations have changed much over the centuries with the political changes of nations - especially in Europe.

While American place names the dropdown will give you name variations with their relevant time periods - I am sure this is an ongoing process as more name conventions and their time periods are added. Patience is certainly the word of the day.

While the standard placename will work best for the algorithms, you can still insert the name as you like it into the place field.

    I disgress.

Exact places are that. It's the Source Linker, screwing it up by wiping out the actual places and replace with English next up level place names leaving others in the dark as to where the actual places are where records are actually at.
