Someone has changed my file by Merge and deleted my original file. I am not able to reverse the merge. How can I do this and why does the program allow someone to do this?

    @DWGreen

    If it is too late to undo the merge you should still be able to restore the deleted person. If that is not working for you please post again including the PIDs of the two relevant profiles and the Community will be able to look into this for you.

    Anyone is entitled to make any change to the FamilySearch Family Tree as it is a single collaborative global tree. If you want to contact another contributor to discuss changes that have been made, click on their name on the Details tab or in the change log (though they are not obliged either to enable this feature or to respond to any message you send).

    @DWGreen when working in FamilyTree, it is important to realize that you do not have a file. None of us do. There is just Family Tree. As soon as you contribute information, it is no longer yours or limited to your control. It belongs to FamilySearch and they allow all of us users work together to improve it. In the process mistakes are made but all mistakes can be corrected.

    @DWGreen profiles are actually archived, not deleted. Can you give me the PID of the surviving profile?

    It is important to know that FamilySearch tree is unique:

    • Family Tree is different from other similar genealogy sites. Family Tree is a single, public tree linked together in families. Other sites allow users to create and manage their own private trees. In Family Tree, everyone works together on the same data. Our goal is to connect every member of the human family.

    @Mc Creath Mary What is your issue? Sounds like it is different from @DWGreen's. Please provide more details.

    @Mc Creath Mary the OP has been asked for the relevant PIDs (which would zero in on the individuals better than names would) but has not responded, so either they have managed to resolve the problem or perhaps they haven't checked for replies yet.
