    @Rhonda Budvarson everything that you posted from Microsoft Copilot is completely hallucinated. None of that appears anywhere in the document. It's not French, it's not a property transaction, and it's not a birth.

    That's why it's dangerous to use LLMs to translate handwriting. They "see" something that looks vaguely familiar to something else that's been fed in, and then they try to predict what it will say based on the previous documents they've "seen". And if you're not at all familiar with the language, you'll have no idea whether the output is at all accurate.

    I have not used the following myself, only read about it, perhaps it may be more accurate.

    • transkribus.org may be able to read a handwritten page for you in a foreign language (14 different languages available currently, including Italian).
