Tagging a marriage record to a marriage event
How can I attached a marriage record to an marriage event that has already been added to my ancestor's list of sources? When I edit the marriage event, and seek to add a source, I am given three options:
Add New Source, Add New Memory Source, and Attach from Source Box.
None of these three options allows me to add the an existing source that has already been added to the general source list for that ancestor. Attaching it from the Source Box requires me to first copy the source from the Ancestor's source list to the Source Box which takes extra steps.

If you do a quick search of the Community archives, you'll find that question has been asked over 100 times in the last 5 years.
It's partly due to the structure of the marriage fact which belongs to the couple, not to the individuals. The regulars have been asking for a change for as long as I can remember.
You might try posting it in the Suggest an Idea category. I'm pretty sure that's been done, too, but maybe someday the structure will change.

The only way to do this that I know of and is kind of a pain in the neck but does work is:
- Open the source in the source linker using the Review Attachments link
- In the source linker, detach the source from the person whose box contains the marriage information.
- Critical step: Move the marriage information from the left hand side of the source linker to the right hand side. If it is identical to what is already there, you will not generate a duplicate couple event. If it varies in any way, you will generate a duplicate event and have to delete it later.
- Re-attach the source. The record will automatically be added to the list of sources in the couple event box but only if you moved the marriage information over from left to right.
- Go to the couple event pop-up and see if you have to delete a duplicate event.
This might seem to be more work than copying the source to your source box and attaching it from there, but the source box method gives you a copy of the source and if you later decide to edit the title or add notes to the source, you have to remember to make any changes to both the original and your copy.

I just posted about this in another thread, trying to figure out what is the rhyme or reason as to when a marriage source will automatically attach to both the individuals plus the couple relationship, but other times the source will only attach to the individuals (I too use the detach re-attach quick & dirty trick sometimes : )
In your steps 3 & 4, I am reading that to mean that if source linker does not give you the option to move the marriage information from left to right, then the source will never automatically be added to the couple event ??? Taking this a step further, in order to force it to give you the option to move the marriage info from left to right, if I changed something about the couple event to make it incorrect/not identical, then I would be given the option ? And then of course I would need to go to the couple event popup to delete the duplicate event ?
p.s. I love the 'infographics' you post sometimes, you do a good job using images to explain what you mean

The answer to your question is indeed in Gordon Collett's post. The source linker will only attach the source to the couple relationship when the marriage event is moved from left to right. And you are correct that this implies that you might need to edit the existing marriage event to make sure it doesn't match exactly the event shown on the left-hand side in the source linker (otherwise you won't be able to move the event from left to right and thus the source won't be automatically attached to the relationship). And you are also correct that after you attach the source, you will almost certainly need to go back into the couple relationship and tidy up the marriage event(s) so that there are no duplicates.
