Hello,

I hope there is a way to correct birth records from Monroe County, Iowa from indexing batch I11397-7. I have a long list of incorrect records and have only made it through half of them.

Iowa, County Births, 1880-1935

There are some birth records in this indexing batch that were transcribed incorrectly. There is not an image available on here but there is an image on ancestry. Maggie Ridley is one of the incorrect records: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VJPK-VWD?lang=en

Born in Hickory Grove, Monroe County, Iowa instead of Hickory Grove, Scott County, Iowa.

Another incorrect record from the batch: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VJPK-BJP?lang=en Born in Hickory Grove, Monroe County, Iowa instead of Scott County, Iowa.

Is there someone I can send the list to?

I am willing to correct the transcription errors for Monroe County, Iowa if I am allowed to do so. There are many such as this one: Incorrect record: Incorrect record: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VJPK-JK8?lang=enBorn in Jack Oak, Monroe County, Iowa not Jackson County, Iowa.

@MFway Thank you for your desire to help improve the indexing of our records. Unfortunately, this collection of Iowa County Births has not yet been migrated to the Shared Image Viewer which would allow users to edit the index. However, the films are available in Full Text Search. If you go to the film number in the catalog, you will see the icon linking to Full Text Search.

Users can search by name and easily see the correct birth place and other information to add to their tree. Best of all, the image can be added as a source:

Although there are often errors in AI transcriptions and it does not completely replace the need to edit indexing, it does help users find and verify information that is not otherwise available.
