In 'full name review' when marking multiple instances of the same name, should each box be filled?

The instructions on 'full name review' state that you should highlight and select each instance of the same name. Should you have the name listed in each of the boxes? or only one for each part of the name?

Thanks for your question. I'm not seeing anywhere in the instructions for Full Name Review that state you should highlight each instance of the same name. I think I remember that it used to state this. But now the instructions in step 2 state "if you see a name more than once, you don't need to select it here."

Here's a great article that may answer some of your questions: https://www.familysearch.org/en/blog/full-name-review

Um, I actually found a section where it still asks you to record every instance of a name here. https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/help-with-full-name-review
Its basically at the bottom of the list.

Thanks for reporting that. I will send it to the engineers.

So its confirmed that we shouldn't highlight every instance of the same name anymore?

We haven't heard back from the engineers yet. Until we do, I would go with the instructions on the activity that state "if you see a name more than once, you don't need to select it here."

I cannot figure out how to drag the additional name/correction to an added box. For instance:

    James G Green Jr

I can add the needed box, but it says to DRAG the name to the box (I think), but nothing I do works. I just need a little added help. The help section wasn't much help for this question…

Is there a place I can watch a video?

@Carmen Rhodehouse Kerr You need to type the name into a Given Name box then add the needed box and click on update then in Step 3 you can drag the name from Given to the appropriate box. With your example, Jr. is often missing , so you highlight Jr then type it into a given name box, then add the name suffix box then drag Jr down to the name suffix box.

If the Jr. appears in the same given name box as James, then you need to retype Jr into its own given name box then add the suffix box, update and in Step 3 or 4 you make corrections to the James box.

I know this sounds complicated but its not, so I am tagging @Gordon Collett to show this in a screenshot, please and thanks. PS to Carmen, don't feel badly, we all had to figure this out on our own because "help" doesn't always help 😎
