"Unknown" in indexed records is a duplicate
I'm not sure if that title is a good description, but here is a situation I have encountered a few times. One example:
The "Unknown" which attaches itself to Mary Lou Selman is the same as Mary Lou Baker. Although I didn't attach the Unknown, Source Linker won't let me move it and put Mary Lou Baker in its place.
How are these linked up in the indexed source? There is no "Unknown" in the census record, only the name. How can I put the correct name in place? Or possibly combine the correct name and the unknown?

If you change the focus person on the left to Mary Lou Baker, you can then attach the record. You can then ignore the two UNKNOWN by selecting sources and Dismiss the Unfinished attachments.

Is there any way to combine the Unknown with the correct person? Or to edit the source to get rid of the unknown?

@CherylMillerBlack From what I have been able to determine, the UNKNOWN is created during the indexing process as a placeholder for a spouse in a record where no spouse is listed so that the children can be added. I will also sometimes attach the unknown to the spouse, since it does not hurt anything if it is attached.
