Complicated history

My father was adopted two hours after birth. I have information about his mother, she was unmarried at the time, she later married a man, not my fathers biological father. The information associated to her reflects that spouse (which is correct) however in the tree it appears as though he is my grandfather. How do I change this to reflect correctly?

Hi Leroy Thanks for your question. On Family Tree, a person can have several different parent-child relationships. I am assuming your father has a parent child relationship with his adopted parents and then it sounds like he has a parent child relationship with his biological mother and her husband. The relationships are shown on the details tap of the person page in the Family Members section. Go to the person page for your father and make sure he has the parent-child relationships you want to show. I assume you will want to keep the relationship (if it exists) to his adopted parents and then a relationship to his biological mother only. That means you would remove the relationship to his biological mother's husband. Here are a couple of links with details about adjusting the relationships

Hope this helps. Feel free to reach back. If you do, it would be useful to include your father's ID so we can see the records.

    Hi Wayland,
    I hope you are well.
I have another question, please help me understand the system (process).
I have started creating a family tree for my wife. I started by creating an account in her name. I logged in and started by creating her, her parents, and her grandparents. When I attempted to add myself as the spouse - the option was to "create person". I didn't want to duplicate myself, so I went to my account, copied my ID, and attempted to add myself using my ID (from my account), however the system reported no record found. I then attempted to search for myself but again no record found.
Do I need to recreate myself as a "new entity" in her account?
I hope I have asked the question in a manner that makes sense.
    Regards
    Leroy

Hi Leroy Living people are handled a little differently than deceased people on Family Search due to right of privacy. Each account holder will need to create a new profile for each living person they add, and they are the only one that can see that profile. In your case, go ahead and create a person for yourself on your wife's account. It will have a different ID than your profile on your own account. Do the same for any living people you add. In the case of deceased persons, then you can share the same ID on every account.

    Hope this helps.

    Good day Wayland,

I am working on building my wife's family tree, I have found multiple (more than fifteen) ancestors indicating a French heritage.

However, when I view the map – “Where Am I From?”, this does not appear to be reflected accurately.

Could you assist me in understanding how this works, or where I have made a mistake?

Your assistance would truly be appreciated.

    Regards

    Leroy
