The 4 canned Reason Statements are missing
The new merge tool does not have any canned Reason Statements to select from. The old merge tool had 4 canned Reason Statements that could be used. We could select one and then augment it to best reflect the reason for merging. Without the canned statements, we must put in the person's names and PIDs and come up with an understandable statement. This take much longer, is far more complicated and usually yields a less informative reason statement.

What did you like about the old "canned" explanations?Do you have any suggestions for new explanations?

The old explanations were generally adequate for reasons to merge. Having the merge say the FamilySearch didn't find any inconsistencies puts the responsibility onto the computer and not the person who is merging. It seems to me that is counterproductive and gives people an out to be lazy. :)
