Can the following AI Indexing errors be corrected?
I am researching Johann Abramowski (GGV7-Y3J). I have found baptism records Deutsch Eylau, Rosenberg, West Prussia, Prussia, Germany Baptism Records – 1833 - 1859 |
Image Group Number 102462464. Page272
Only half the information is here. The other half is on Image Group Number
I saw somewhere that the information was indexed by AI, which is great, except that it has indexed the right page (102462463) based on the information on the right page only without connecting it to the left page (102462464)
Of course, all the other data is the same for all the other entries.
I have corrected the indexed entry for this record so that Johann Abramowski is the Primary Christening record and the mother information is correct and unchanged.
The record also contains a column of information for Witnesses and there are several names there but (perhaps because I’m relatively new and not sure what I’m doing) there is no way to create a new index field called Witnesses, or to add these extra names which provide relevant information to the record

@Peter4623 A few years ago I was doing research in a different village in Rosenberg and found the same problem. I discovered there was an additional filming with both sides of the book together on one image. That is true also for Deutsch Eylau church records. The film that matches the first page of the left and right images for the films you referenced is 102397629.
That does not solve the problem of having bogus and incomplete indexes for the left and right side films that when attached as sources can potentially corrupt the tree. That will need to be addressed.
I found that I was able to add a witness to one of the records using the field "Other", but I like your suggestion to add a field called "witness". I will pass that along.

Thanks SerraNola. Thank you for your helpful response.
I looked for a different way to add the information but I could not find a field called "Other", or a way to create a new field

Hi SerraNola. I have been caught again. Same problem, several different people. Same location but different time period. This definitely needs to be fixed

@Peter4623 I agree and we are in the process of trying to gather the offending films to report to engineers. I have seen firsthand how record hints from these kinds of indexes lead to bogus children and sources added to Family Tree.
When adding witnesses to the index, first use the Add button at the bottom to create and highlight new personas. Next, open up the data for the primary person (one being christened) and click on "Relationships". Under Help choose the Drag function and drag the new personas to the primary person and drop. Then you will need to click on "Add Information". Choose "Other" because there is no option for Witness. (Add all the witnesses at one time by adding that number of "Other" boxes.) Then put the names of the witnesses in the boxes and Save.

@Peter4623 One more thing that probably goes without saying. Don't add witnesses or do any editing with the indexes for the right and left films that we are targeting to be taken down or blocked.

@SerraNola Every time I receive a notification that there has been a new comment on this thread, the thread takes a very long time to open - several minutes. I wonder if the graphic at the top of the original post might be the cause? The problem is not happening on any other thread in the Community.
Windows 10, tested on Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, all fully updated.

Same unusual slowness on this thread on my Android 'phone in Chrome.
