How to add an entry with parent's names to the indexes

I have come across a church baptism record where some entries have been missed. Using the index panel on the right of the screen I can create a new record and add the child. I can add the date and place in the events section. I can open the 'add another field' in the relationships section. But when I type the parent's name the box provided, the box outline remains red, and I get an error message 'field is empty'. The box will only accept names already recorded in the index for that page -not new ones. Any advice please?

You'd need to add the parents as new people in the index and then make the association — but last I checked (a week or so ago), the "Add" function was still not working. (It pretends like it does, but your addition disappears if you refresh the page or come back to it from elsewhere.)

Given that the permissions-eating gremlin has not been proven to be conquered, I suggest you not try to fix indexes on FS. You may inadvertently do more harm than good: the entry (or sometimes the entire page of entries!) may disappear from view instead of being fixed.

Yes I have had trouble too and I’m glad to know it’s a glitch. I agree not to save any changes unless 100 percent sure it’s done right. I guess we have to wait until they give permission to fix.

Here is information if it works later:
