I'd search carefully for the individuals in the Family Tree, adding your sources as necessary to anything you find (and potentially collaborating with those who have worked on the profiles previously), or creating new stand-alone profiles where the individuals are not yet present. In either case you may well then get hints coming through that will help you and your collaborators build out those parts of the Tree.

From your FamilySearch home page, click on "Family Tree > Recents." Scroll to the bottom and click "Add Unconnected Person."

When I have done this, FamilySearch often does not find duplicates right away, but duplicates may show up as you add details and relationships.

I really don't think a Family Tree Find is a bad idea before you start creating a new profile, you could save yourself considerable time that way, not to mention familiarising yourself with further areas of your name's coverage.

I agree Mandy. I do use the Find first, but the algorithm isn't that great and often doesn't return results even when they're in the Tree. :(

The duplicates algorithm isn't perfect either, in the end a careful, well-informed and open-minded human is best at recognising a match (and a non-match), but the two algorithms worked together probably have the best chance of success.
