Hello everyone, Happy New Year!!

Please see attached - this is a postcard dated circa 1915 from Germany.

Is there anyone out there who might be able to translate this for me?

Many thanks, Christine

Hi @ChristineKollwitz. The best place to get this translated is the https://community.familysearch.org/en/group/88-germany-research group. I'd suggest posting again there. Good luck, and Happy New Year!

Another option is to have an Artificial Intelligence tool like ChatGPT translate it for you which is what I did. This is what ChatGPT thinks it says. Always take what an AI tool provides with some skepticism:

    Printed Text:

    "Ein gutes neues Jahr!"
    (A Happy New Year!)

    "Der feldgraue Weihnachtsmann"
    (The Field-Grey Santa Claus)

"Karte 6: Parole 1917: Sieg und Frieden!"
(Card 6: Slogan 1917: Victory and Peace!)

    Handwritten Text (Transcription & Translation):

    Transcription:
"Herzliche Grüße für Neujahr und das nächste Jahr,
    Glück und Gesundheit von
    Ihrem ...
    Regt. Feldkompanie ..."

    Translation:
"Heartfelt greetings for New Year and the next year,
wishing you happiness and health from
    your ...
    Regimental Field Company ..."

(The handwriting is quite cursive, and some words are difficult to decipher exactly.)

    Address Section:

    Transcription:
    "Fräulein M. Moran
    Neuenlandstr. 67
    Lago weill Handarbeitsschule
    Brustleinstr. 64"

    Translation:
    "Miss M. Moran
    Neuenland Street 67
    Lago Weill Handicraft School
    Brustlein Street 64"

    Postmark Details:

    "K. u. K. Hauptfeldpostamt"
(Imperial and Royal Main Field Post Office)

Date: Appears to be "8-1" (likely January 8th)
    Postal Code/Stamp: "388/1"

    I hope this is helpful.

@Ce3073, for future requests, may I suggest the Austro-Hungarian Empire Research group? (It'll still be me responding, most likely, but we won't be bugging people who aren't interested.)

(And this one's all in Latin…)

    1868
    Number 6. 4 February.
Groom and bride: Joannes Gergely, son of Joseph (Gergely) farmer and of Anna Barta; Amalia Lökös, daughter of Andreas (Lökös) farmer and of Maria Duczman
Place of origin and residence: Levárt 46
    Religion: Roman Catholic
    Age: 30, 25
    Status: single
Witnesses: Joannes Lőkös farmer and Andreas Bakay
Officiant: the same (Ignatius Gaal parson)
    Announcements: 3
Remarks: reservist soldier in the ?? infantry ? ? 60.

(I also have Lőkös ancestors, so I've encountered many spellings of it: Lőkös, Lökes, Lölkös, Lelkes. Later records tend toward "Lelkes", which is a word meaning "enthusiastic", but the actual origin of the surname is a diminutive of Lőrinc = Lawrence.)

    Age 7 years, Roman Catholic
    Cause: measles

I received it too late. My computer tabs were all accidentally closed down and I could not find how to get back to you.
