My spouse has a G33G-8CW, on her user ID. On my user ID, the number is TFHK-TKK. On my ID, I've added her death information. On her's, I can't change anything, Ive tried merging. Please me straighten this mess out. Thank you, in advance! Bill

Did your wife have her own FamilySearch account? Is that where she has the ID of G33G-8CW? Did she recently pass away (if so, may I say I'm sorry for your loss.)?

In Family Tree, any user that creates a profile for a living person is the only user that can see that living person. That maintains privacy for those living people. When someone dies and the user who created that living profile adds a death date, then that profile becomes public for all other users to see. Duplicate copies of deceased individual can be merged. Duplicates where one profile has death information and the other is marked as living cannot be merged. Two living profiles can only be merged if they were created by the same user under the same account.

An important fact to know, is that we cannot mark ourselves deceased. That is a rule in Family Tree which when you think about it makes sense. No one should have our FamilySearch account information. Therefore, before we die, we cannot make ourselves deceased because we are not. After we die, we are not around to do it.

It sounds like what you need to do is ask FamilySearch support to add her death information to her profile under her account. Then you will be able to merge the two profiles for her. You will need to supply supporting evidence. The easiest way to do that is to post an obituary or other such source to your copy of her profile and reference both profiles when you contact support.

Hi Bill It is not possible to enter a death date for you wife when you are on her account. What you can do is send an email to nasupport@familysearch.org In the email ask for a death date to be added to her profile. Give your wife's name, ID and attach a proof of death such as a death certificate, obituary, funeral program etc. A death date will be added to her profile on her account and her account will be closed. You will then see a profile for her as deceased which you can merge with the profile you have of her. Before you do that, you may want to review the memories she has on her account since her account will be closed. Here are things to consider.
