Is it possible to find a contributor/member of FamilySearch so I can do a chat with him or her?

Yes, the Chat search includes a "Global Directory".

(The search input box is Annoyingly Weird: you can't select anything in it. Click-and-drag is always interpreted as "move window", regardless of where the pointer was when you began the click.)

sure, when you see something that someone has contributed, their contact ID will be displayed. Just click on the ID and you can send a message to them. If they have made their email or phone number public, you can see that also. Of course, it is their option to repond or not.

Thanks, Wayland. I guess I wasn't clear enough. Sorry. I meant, is there a way to find a list of public members so that I can contact a person who I haven't found by him making a contribution?

Note that the Global Directory search will only include those users who have turned on "Include my profile information in directory search results" in their Permissions Settings.
