On this city directory the G names go about half way down a page both left and right column.

There is a space between these and the H names that begin back on the left column and continue onto the right column. Do you index all the G names in both columns on the page before going onto the H names in both columns on the same page? Or, do you choose not to care about the alphabetizing of the names and go top to bottom on both columns?

You index top to bottom, left to right.
