@raymorgan1 Morgan is a relatively frequently found name. Have you built up the family tree leading to William Morgan in FamilySearch? Downpatrick isn't a large town but its hard to comment with so little information.

If you can give us the FamilySearch reference number for William, I am certain someone will be able to assist or guide you.

There is a VERY good website for County Down with masses of information and research. A very innocuous web address but dont let that put you off. This is well worth a look at. Although its County Down, Downpatrick is of course in County Down. Have a look, see if its any use.

    rosdavies.com.

Also there is a Facebook group although I have never looked at this but again it may be worth looking into. https://m.facebook.com/groups/151932828722176?bac=MTYxNjEwMzMwNTo4NjAyMjQxNDEyMjYzNzE6ODYwMjI0MTQxMjI2MzcxLDAsMDoyMDpLdz09&multi_permalinks&paipv=0

@raymorgan1 it has been a few days since you posed your question re the MORGAN family of Downpatrick. We were wondering if you felt your query had been dealt with appropriately, or if there was something that we could do , or have done better.

It is of note that the surname Morgan was fairly common in County Down in the Griffiths Valuation (circa 1860). In addition to the suggestions above a cursory search of Ancestry has revealed the following link which may or may not have some relevance to your search. Indeed you may be aware of this record already .

    Name: William Morgan

    Gender: Male

    Marital Status: Single

    Age: 22

    Birth Date:1841

    Marriage Date: 08 May 1863

    Marriage Place: Ballycutler, Down, Ireland

    Father: John Morgan

    Spouse: Margaret Quinn

FHL Film Number: 101445 Reference ID:567

There are a number of marriages for a William MORGAN to be found on the various repositories , and each would need to be scrutinised as to its veracity and relevance to your question .

This is William John Morgan DOB 1841 who was indeed married to Margaret Quinn. This is my Great Great grandfather and grandmother.

His father I believe was called John Morgan 1819 born in Ireland but I have need more verification of this. John I think was married to Ellen Taylor ?? If anyone has any information that could help me with this I would be very grateful.

    Thank you

@raymorgan1 as I mentioned back in 2021 when you initially posted your question, if you can give us the FamilySearch ID of the person or people you wish to know more about, I am certain that you would be given some excellent assistance.

If you don't have FamilySearch ID for the people as you haven't yet added them to the FamilySearch family tree, then I would strongly urge you to add them. That will be the best way for you to move forward with your research.

The FamilySearch ID looks something like ABCD-EFG.
