The reference to a dashboard and "list of add source, add person or add events" sounds a bit like My Contributions (although "add event" would be "add memories"). Is that perhaps what you are thinking of? That can be found under the Family Tree main menu item on FamilySearch.org, or in the mobile Family Tree apps.

Family History Dashboard is on the "Helpful" resources page for public accounts.
Unfortunately since helper resources was updated it no longer opens the page to access hints, plans and notes.
