Is there a place that has instructions for Full Name Review? I am having trouble with it.

    Me too!

Here is what I found Carol: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/help-with-full-name-review. However, it doesn't answer my main question:

Add or Remove Fields. I can add fields in the pop-up, but can't figure out how to drag them over to the transcription pane.

Also, at the end of step 4 (in the above instructions), it says Done--not Next. I did not see anywhere that I could highlight other places that name appears in the record (i.e. no step 5 available).

Thanks! I thought maybe I was the only one missing something. Maybe some better instruction is in the works. I mess around with it some myself but do not feel confident in suggesting others participate. I tend to do Quick Name review instead. If anyone feels more confident please speak up.

Full Name Review / Last Name , First Name

i am reviewing a legal document and at the end of the document the names positing changes from first name last name to last name first name. Are we to list this as an incorrect highlight or transpose the names ourselves? Just looking for a best practices on the name review project. Thank you

Another article that might help is this: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/review-names-help. It answers some questions about full name review.

A Mr. Martin's will mentions his daughter, Ellen Martin Stacey. How do I list her surname(s)?

Ellen is the given name, Martin is the maiden name and Stacey is her married name. Martin Stacey would be the surname, so that's how I list it. No hyphen is used as we might do in "modern times" if the male assumes the female's surname. Ex John Jones marries Susan Smith who wants her maiden name to be part of their combined family name or vice versa as when husband wants to take wife's maiden name as part of or in place of his surname. Its all very confusing, especially since so many given names are unisex names; ie Francis or Frances depending on the century date the will was written and the many cursive styles. It may be of interest to know that during the 1800's both Shirley and Marion were bestowed on boys and girls alike with no difference in spelling.😊

I came here with the exact same problem & find that they are aware of the issue but it doesn't appear to have have been fixed. So I just go work on another site & occasionally come back to find it is still the same

@Vikky Davidson and @CherylMillerBlack We cannot drag a name from the original document to the pane where we review. Here's how it works:

    image.png
    1. Highlight Jr.
    2. Type Jr. in the empty Given Name Box
    3. Add the Name Suffix field
    4. Drag Jr. from the Given Name Box to the Name Suffix Box using the square thumbprint

    5. Hit Next and Step 4 of FNR will appear for you to correct any spelling errors ( Correct Surname spelling in example is "Baudinot".

    6. Hit DONE and the next Name to be reviewed will come up for you to highlight or not as needed.

As for commas ie " Smith, John " Remove the comma in Step 4 when you review spelling.

    Happy reviewing
