City directories
I am a little confused about if subsequent names in a record should be indexed. In batch MQNR-VW6 record 88 reads “ Geo Y (Sara E) jwlr J W Kalbach h307 S 3d av W Rdg”. I know to index Geo Y with Sara E as the spouse but is J W Kalbach indexed?

I think J W Kalbach is the jewelry store where Geo Y works. If that is the case J W Kalbach would not be indexed.

I had the same thought but in this instance and others like it where there is doubt is there a default position like “when in doubt, index it” or is it more “if it’s not clearly the intent of this project don’t index it.”

Looks to me like it's saying he's a jewler at J W Kalbach. I wouldn't index it.
