I am not connected with FamilySearch
There is a HelpCenter article about this in respect of microfilms and microfiche https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/unneeded-microfilm-or-microfiche-in-a-family-history-center
Perhaps when you contact Support as detailed in the link they will advise about the bound Journals, otherwise you could contact the FamilySearch Library about this https://www.familysearch.org/en/library/donations#literary-donations email: books@familysearch.org
phone: 1-801-240-1855

You'll probably find better assistance in the FSC Support Group for Leaders and Staff.

Sister Hillesheim, these films can and should be returned to Salt Lake. The Knowledge Article in the Help Center of FamilySearch titled Unneeded Microfilm or microfiche in a FamilySearch center of affiliate Library—article Id: 6341 states.
Microfilms or microfiche in your center or affiliate library are on loan and are the property of FamilySearch. Long-term loans also belong to FamilySearch. Do not donate, give away, sell, or relocate microfilms or microfiche to another facility, individual, or organization without permission. If you want to relocate microfilms or microfiche to another FamilySearch center, contact FamilySearch Support for permission and instructions.
Microfilm and Microfiche Returns
The process to return microfilm and microfiche to FamilySearch is the same. When contacting FamilySearch Support to return microfilm and microfiche, please provide the FamilySearch Center Unit Number, the number of boxes to be returned, and the dimensions of each box. The numbers and dimensions of each box are necessary to determine shipping weights and costs. FamilySearch Support will share the information with the contracted agent to have the films destroyed. The center returning microfilm or microfiche should only contact FamilySearch Support and not contact the company or individual contracted to destroy the microfilm or microfiche.
You can contact FamilySearch Center Support by calling 866-406-1830 and selecting option 5 for FamilySearch Center Support after boxing the film and fiche. The support missionary will take the information and have the company contact you to arrange the pickup of the film and fiche. As for the Cabinets and the readers, your Local facilities people will take care of those for you. You must speak to the High Councilor over physical facilities in your stake.

We have temporarily suspended film return. In order to receive instructions for returning the films, you need to call FamilySearch Center support and request to have your center added to the contact list. Please note that the films contain hazardous materials and require special handling.
