There is a duplicate family tree with a strange PID number

. I could not merge records. It said the one with the strange PID number could not be found. See attached screen shot. What does this mean and how can these records be merged so there isn't a duplicate tree branch.

You are looking at a tree in Pedigree Resource File, not the main Family Tree. PRF has different IDs and doesn't allow for merging -- that's only possible in Family Tree.

Elaborating on Alan's answer: the Genealogies section of FamilySearch is essentially a publicly-searchable and -viewable cloud backup service for genealogy files. It is a completely separate beast from the collaborative, shared Family Tree. The files in Genealogies are static: nobody can edit them, not even the people who uploaded them. (Uploaders can delete their files, though.)

    Thanks so much!

I was trying to help someone at the FamilySearch Library and should have caught that. Hopefully she will check back and see the answers when she gets home- She signed into FamilySearch and posted the qustion and we thought the email would go to her but apparently I was still logged into the community.
