What happens to the data in the Family Group Tree for a person who dies and marked deceased?

Does it go back into the shared public tree at that point? If so, is it automatic, or is it an option to push that data back into the shared public tree, or would I need to just make that change in the share public tree?

There is nothing different for Family Group Trees in this regard than it has always been. When a profile for a living person is marked as deceased, that profile becomes public, part of the shared public tree. It doesn't matter whether that living person was in a Family Group Tree or in the private space for a particular user -- the process and effect is the same.
