Access an online book
Hello
As an avid Family Historian hobbyist in Derby, UK I am researching a publication/book regarding the paternal G.G. grandparents of my children namely John Francis and Susannah Swan from England. John Francis settled in Prophetstown with other members of his family. I can see that the book is possibly online and would dearly love to access it online or possibly find somewhere in the UK with access to the book. Could anybody help please ?

Unfortunately, it is not, in fact, an "online book": "Due to copyright restrictions, this book cannot be viewed online" (https://www.familysearch.org/library/books/records/item/376430-john-francis-of-prophetstown-whiteside-county-illinois-and-some-of-his-descendants-includes-many-clarks-and-lancasters?&offset=1).
It looks like the physical copy in SLC is in "offsite storage", but it's also on microfilm (https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/685203). Do you know anyone who's traveling to the in-person RootsTech conference next weekend?

As another UK resident with American ancestors I feel for you. So far I have managed to find softcopy of everything I wanted, Hathitrust, archive.org, or lurking on digitised FS microfilm, but this book has clearly slipped through all those cracks.
The FS Books full text search appears to work against this book (implying that someone somewhere has digitised it!)
I tried a Books search string of 'francis prophetstown'. The book is the first of stacks of search results, and I got full text search hits on a lot of the pages (NB if you hit See More you will observe that the hits are not in numerical page order).
Maybe see if the full text search can give you any pointers to what you want to know?
Update-the Google Books entry lets you do a full text search too, and shows a lot more for each hit.

Thank you. Have followed your suggestions. Seeing the snippets has really whetted my appetite to try and find a digital copy. Yesterday when I was searching somewhere I did see mention the book had been digitised in 2007!

If you looked at the list I provided from worldcat, the book is available through Hathitrust Digital Library, meaning it is digitized.

Worldcat says it's there, but I couldn't see it when I searched Hathitrust direct @Áine Ní Donnghaile

There are varying levels of access at HathiTrust, depending on affiliation through a university or other organization. It IS there; who can see it depends on access level.

Thank you all for your suggestions and help. I have now registered and signed in but still not allowed access. Feeling quite dizzy from going around in circles and still not ending up at the finish line. Ah well, I’ll keep trying.

@KATHLEENGREEN4 Is there something specific you are hoping to find in the book? My local library is one of the top genealogy libraries in the USA, and they have a copy. If there are some specific details you are hoping to find, I can take a look when I next go to the library.

Hello, thank you very much for your kind offer.
I am researching my husband’s maternal family tree, which I have built on Ancestry.com. Francis from Bourne in Lincolnshire, England and whilst I have gathered lots of info through Ancestry, when I saw this book I was hoping maybe pictures/ more detailed info regarding the family members who went to America would be great to add to his tree. I can see there were copies of letters to and from England. Hopefully one day I/or my children will be able to read the book, until then…………as there is nothing specific, I think I will leave it thank you.
