The record sets for Grant County Oregon are not visiable. Is there a fix?

    @Gorgegal63

    Hello

    I have followed the link you have provided and then followed the other sets of links and just by random choice was able to view some images.

    Could you reply and post a very detail request for say a certain year in a specific place, or even a date and name?

    Having clicked the Browse all 233,095 Images I could see the following category links:

    Circuit Court records, County Court records, District Court records, Land and property records,

    Military records, Naturalization records, Pension records, Probate records, Vital records

    I then clicked on "Pension Records" and then on "Widows' pension accounts, 1913-1935, vol 1"

    which give me access to a book of 114 pages or Images.

    Does this example of searching in these records help you?

    Cheerio for now.

    @DavidBeck1 Are you possibly accessing with your LDS Church Member account? Try it with a public account. I believe you will see what Gorgegal63 means.

    Yes, @Gorgegal63 that is the result that someone who is not a member of the LDS Church and not at a FamilySearch Center will see. It's the same thing I see.

    I'll check on my next visit to my FSC - maybe tomorrow.

    @Gorgegal63 @Áine Ní Donnghaile

    Yes, my apologies, I signed in as a Member. However, I will be at my FamilySearch Centre tomorrow morning and will look at the options for a non-member to make access, with the special privilege of the Centre.

    Cheerio for now.

    The same thing happened last year with another county record set. I let them know and it was fixed by the end of the day. I can look at other counties records like this one , no problem. Maybe a viewer problem?

    @Gorgegal63 since it is a holiday, it's unlikely that it could be fixed that quickly, even if it is a simple error.

    I'm at my FSC, logged in through the portal, with a public account. I am not a member of the church. I cannot access the Grant, Oregon records. I CAN access other record sets I can normally access only at the FSC.

    I received this information:

    "You must be an Authenticated Member to view the records. However, there is also a “delayed publication” restriction on the records – they cannot be displayed until 100 years after the last record in that set of images. They will be available in 2036."

    The State of Oregon, USA, has two restrictions on vital records and that is birth and death. Birth is 100 years for certificates and 50 years on death certificates. However, land, property, court, mining, naturalization ect are public record. This is per the Sec. of States office. The collection below has been submitted by the Clerk of Grant County Oregon for public use.

    "Oregon, Grant County Records, 1851-1992." Images. FamilySearch. http://FamilySearch.org : 28 February 2023. Grant County Courthouse, Canyon City.

    The images are not showing up as other counties in the State.

    I don't know anything about Oregon, but I do know that Hungary's old 30-60-90 privacy rule for access to vital registers has been somehow massaged by some archives into an insane 0-86-130 rule, based on esoteric math and hypotheticals about possible annotations. In other words, it's the "lawyer-proof" and/or lazy archivist's solution to enforcing privacy restrictions. Perhaps someone in charge in Grant County had a similar idea?
